It only took 2 years since his debut to play at Tomorrowland…Madison Mars’ story is exceptional. Last December, he played for Spinnin’ Sessions in Tokyo during TDME and showed the crowd about his original world. His hit track “Atom” has been played by DJ MAG TOP 100 DJS #1 Martin Garrix all over the world. Ultra Europe, Tomorrowland, his shows… Such hit maker, Madison Mars just announced another track.
Q1. Please talk to us about your latest release and the inspiration behind it.
With the upcoming festival season in mind, I wanted to create something different and energetic for my DJ sets. ‘Back The Funk’ is a perfect blend of different house music genres, delivering that true mainstage feel and vibes.
Q2. How is this track special compared to other tracks you’ve released throughout your career?
It’s definitely a special track and completely different from my past productions. I’m usually all about the melodic drops and big breakdowns, but you never know what are you going to end up with in the studio… So this time around I felt I wanted something more aggressive with a big bassline.
Q3. Can you pick 1 or 2 must plays in your recent sets and why?
I’ve been playing Retrovision’s ‘Get Down’ for the last couple of months a lot. Love the old-school vibes and I’m a huge fan of the sampled ‘Lola’s Theme’ by The Shapeshifters.
Second track I always play is my own ‘Atom’, with The Weeknd accapella added on top of it. I call it ‘Can’t Feel My Atom’. It’s just a perfect combination of vocals and melodies. I use it as my intro actually.
Q4. What is your best gig so far and what memories do you have from this gig?
I’ve had many awesome gigs, but I must say my favorite gig was last year in Tokyo. Somehow the people in Japan are the most humble and kindhearted, they understand music and they won’t hold down their emotions while singing along or dancing like crazy to their favorite tracks I can’t wait to be back!
Q5. Any exciting new projects coming up that you can share with us?
I’ve been working a lot on new music in my studio and in the coming weeks I have 3 remixes coming out - for Cash Cash, Sting & Shaggy and Galantis. I also have a few original tracks coming up later this summer, couple vocal tracks and a festival themed club track. Oh, and that collab with Lucas & Steve is coming up soon also - very excited!

Japan has a special place in my heart. I only visited your country briefly last year, quick mini tour in Tokyo and Osaka, so I’m really looking forward to discovering your beautiful country soon again! Excited to see so many of my fans there.
