Ruben De Ronde appears once again to update himself with the rest of Asian fans out there.Starting from Armada Night and touring with DJ MAG TOP 100 DJS #3 Armin van Buuren for A State of Trance Festival Tour and he has experienced the world. As an owner of Statement!Music! label, we have received some great advice for the up and coming Japanese DJ/Producers.

Q1. Please talk to us about your latest release and the inspiration behind it.

I wrote the chords a long time ago, in quite a sad setting, but I didn’t do anything with them in the end. Until my publisher Cloud9 invited me to a writing/studio session with singer/songwriter Donata Kramarz and songwriter Mattias Lehtola. They asked me to bring in music to start of the session smoothly, and I found this melody again, and as a joined force we wrote Stand In My Way on there!

The actual music part after that took me almost a year. I just needed to find the right balance in between genres, as it is not a dancefloor track at all.

Q2. How was working with Donata Kramarz? Any behind the scene stories?

The funny thing is that we only had 2 hours in the studio to record the vocals, and in those 2 hours we wrote 2 songs. Donata is a fantastic vocalist and writer! Make sure to check her band NOSOYO, as she is touring heavily right now.

Q3. How was this year? What was the best experience of 2017?

This year has been more than fantastic. I released two albums. My Story in January and a collab album with my good friend Rodg later in the year. Besides that I have toured every part in the world, played at EDC, Tomorrowland, Ultra in Miami and Europe and had a residency in Hi in Ibiza! The only thing is missing, is a trip to Japan haha!

Q4. Can you give some advice for the amateur DJs. How did you acquire your DJ skills during you amateur years?

Practice, practice and practice. You learn things by just doing it. It doesn’t matter if you fail, in the end you’ll nail it!

Q5. How do you learn to create tracks and the production process itself?

The process can be quite frustrating at times, for example with this tune. It took me so long to get it done! Sometimes things go a lot faster fortunatly! Most of the time, if I get stuck, I ask my fans during a live stream. I stream on twitch.tv/rubenderonde where I show how I make my music, and I get a lot of good feedback that way.

Q6. Please leave a message for your fans in Japan.

I really hope to be touring in your country soon! Thank you so much for your support.

2017 must have been another year of success for Ruben de Ronde. EDC、Tomorrowland、Ultra Miami、Europe、Hi Ibiza are only some of the ones he hasn’t mentioned in the interview, which we all would be envy to stand on the main stage. He continues to raise his voice and shows his love for the Japanese fans and the will to perform for them live. Stay tuned to his last shows of 2017!
