Chicane is irreplaceable when it comes to the current dance music scene especially in the UK. Since his powerful debut in 1997 with “Far From The Maddening Crowds”, he has created a world of his own in the Trance scene and continues to come up with new surprises. It has been 17 years since “Don’t Give Up” has hit high up in the chart around the world and let’s hear about his latest release and his future plans to lead the scene up in the UK.

Q1. Please talk to us about your latest release and the inspiration behind it.

Its really simple this one as its just a feel good summery sounding tune, i wanted to try and capture the essence of summer with it & think that works & everyone gets it.

Q2. How has your summer been so far?

So far its been a bit relentless, I have been out playing nearly every wknd & in the studio during the week, so am a bit done in,but loving it….  not loving getting on planes, but who does???

Q3. Can you pick 1 or 2 must plays in your sets and why?

I am still playing ‘The Bridge’ by Jody Wistenoff from last year…  I did a mix on it & it still seems to be cutting the mustard on the dance floor. The other is the Kryder mix of Saltwater which is still massive for me.

Q4. Which other DJs or producers are inspiring you right now?

Drum & bass producer Keeno is doing some amazing work & Jody Wisternoff from way out west is still making brilliant tunes

Q5. Are there any artists in particular you would love to collab with this year?

For sure, but its always tricky to make schedules come together. I think collars with Keeno & Jody would be cool.

Q6. Where do you see yourself in a few years from now?

Asleep on a beautiful beach………..

Q7. What would Japanese fans be surprised to learn about you?

I can’t read a note of music, have dislocating shoulders & am a hovercraft geek

Q8. Please leave a message for your fans in Japan.
