You cannot talk about Justin Prime and not mention his hit collaboration track with TOP100 DJs 2016 #96 Showtek “Cannonball”. He is supported by many starting from Tiesto, David Guetta and also people leading the music scene such as Jennifer Lopez, Flo Rida, Rihanna. He produces original remixes of such pop singers leading the scene and is working in various fields. Justin Prime, let’s hear about his new release “Light It Up feat. Cut_” and his upcoming schedules.

Q1. Congratulations on your new release. Can you tell us more about it?

Thanks! Light It Up (feat. Cut_) is a song about two best friends who were always together during their childhood. But when they got older, one of them moved to a different country, searching for a new life while leaving the other one behind. Basically this song is a flashback from one of the fictional characters looking back on their youth and all the fine memories they had together.

Q2. How is your 2017 so far?

Pretty good! This is the year where I came to rest and I'm all zen again in my studio. I have decided to do less shows and more studio time. I've made a lot of new music, have great studio sessions with really talented artists, playing new instruments and expanding my knowledge as an musician.

Q3. Which track would be your favorite from your work and what inspired you to produce that track?

I don't really have one favorite song to be quite honest. I do believe that most people still know me from my song Cannonball. But every song I send out into the world is something special to me and has a certain story behind it. For example my new song “Light It Up” which I believe is a perfect example of a story which certain people can relate to. I've also written and produced a song called “Mirror On The Wall” (unreleased), and this song tells a story about all the dark places and stuff that I've been through in my life during the last few years. But more about that later.

Q4. Can you pick 1 or 2 must plays in your sets and why?

Darude – Sandstorm (Bass Kleph Bootleg Remix) This one is already a few years old, but I still play it in almost every set I play because people just go crazy on this one. Very well done. And of course my track Cannonball with Showtek. I think it's fair to say this one turned out to be a classic nowadays, and people still go crazy every time I drop this one. For the people who missed it, I've recently made a “Prime's 2017 Edit” of Cannonball, you can download it for free from my Soundcloud page.

Q5. Are there any artists in particular you would love to collab with this year?

I would definitely love to work on a song with Mark Ronson, I think we would kill it. I've also already made a few collabs this year with various artists. One of them is Onderkoffer, coming up soon. And a new one from me and the Mightyfools is also in the making.

Q6. What would Japanese fans be surprised to learn about you?

My mother used to be a KLM stewardess and was stationed to live in Tokyo for a few months. After hearing all these great stories about Japan, I finally got my chance to fly to Japan myself for the very first time in 2014 and I instantly fell in love with this beautiful country! I love the food, and most of all the people are so friendly.

Q7. What are your plans for the Summer?

The usual stuff, shows and studio :) Oh and I have actually booked a vacation in August this year, with my family. I haven't been on a holiday for more than 2 years now. I've been so occupied these last few years that I didn't took the time to enjoy the simple things in life. So now it's time to have some quality time :)

Q8. Please leave a message for your fans in Japan.

Thanks for reading this article and for supporting me over the years! I love you all and I hope to be back soon Japan! #PRIMESQUAD

Arigatou gozaimashita!

Justin Prime has been releasing various tracks from the top labels such as Musical Freedom, Spinnin’ Records, Def Jam, Ultra Records, MixMash Records and more. The tracks he has released in his career has constantly inspired and influenced others in the scene to keep the standards high and focus the production line. He is also seen in many festivals around the world and his schedule is all full. Since he is going to be taking some time in the studio more, we will see less of him on the set but that makes him even more of a special headliner guest. We hope to see him perform in front of Japanese crowds after his production phase and starts touring again. Don’t miss out on his limited shows this summer.
