Sak Noel is not only recognised for his career as a DJ but also has a face as a producer and even a director for his music videos. He has produced the world famous "Loca People" and "No Boyfriend" and continues to release various House and Techno tracks from his own label "Moguda Records". He has recently released his new single "OMG" and hearing about the story behind this track, makes us want to listen to it over and over.

Q1. We heard your new single ‘OMG’. Can you tell us a bit about it?

“OMG” is one of the flagship tracks of a new style of music called “Barnaton” which mixes the classic moombahton beat with mediterranean influences, mostly from the city of Barcelona, where I was born. The first track ever of this new style was “Trumpets” which I produced last year alongside with Salvi and the jamaican superstar Sean Paul. The track was a huge success around the world and that gave me the green light to continue exploring the “Barnaton” sound. I am really happy that one of the best labels in the world, Spinnin Records, has had the vision and the courage to endorse this sound and make it a priority. I’m totally confident the “Barnaton” sound will take over the scene within the next few months. I have an army of records ready to strike.

Q2. How is your 2017 so far? What’s your summer plan?

2017 is a great year for me so far, both in the personal and professional level. I just moved to Los Angeles where I find myself surrounded with the best talented artists you can imagine and I had the opportunity to debut at the festival circuit by playing EDC Mexico mainstage last february. I just did an official remix for Maroon5 which is getting a lot of attention as we speak and I did the same for my friends of Major Lazer.

Summer is looking really good! I have it fully booked already and I’m going to be playing in Europe, America and Asia. Can’t wait for it!

Q3. What do you personally consider to be the most important moments in your artistic career?

Every day is important in my career but there were certainly 2 moments that were key.

The first one was the day I posted my first song on Youtube which went viral and was a worldwide sensation by being number one in more than 15 countries. I came from nothing and I was taking over the world overnight. I clearly wasn’t ready for that and neither was my team but somehow I managed to survive that storm.

The second one was the day I decided to get rid of all the people who had been taken advantage of me during the years and go with the people who had been helping me unconditionally. Ever since I made that change all I have seen it’s growing and success. No matter how good you are, your team is key and I was playing with the wrong one.

Q4. Which track would be your favourite from your work and what inspired you to produce that track?

It’s difficult to choose but I would probably pick “No Boyfriend” which is the track that started my come back to the scene after some years of struggling. I wanted to produce a track that spoke about the women’s independence and I did by writing that powerful sentence “No Boyfriend, No Problem” which went viral and got more than 30 million views on Youtube alone.

Q5. Can you pick 1 or 2 must plays in your sets and why?

I love to play my song “Pinga” because it’s somehow kind of proto-barnaton sound. I was trying to create my own sound with “Pinga” but I still wasn’t there but it turned out to be a great piece that makes sense in all my sets.

The other track I must play no matter what it’s “Trumpets” cause everybody knows that song and it’s my most recent radio hit so, you know, there’s no escape of it!

Q6. What would Japanese fans be surprised to learn about you?

Well, first of all I am a retired manga drawer. I like to think I was pretty good at it. Mostly drawing hentai lol

Also I made a japanese version of my song “No Boyfriend” with FEMM and FAKY and the video of it’s on my Youtube channel. It was a great experience!

Q7. Please leave a message for your fans in Japan.

I have never been to Japan and it’s definitely a country I would love to visit soon! I want to meet you all and bringing you some of the Barcelona hottest parties! I hope this can happen soon! Looking forward to it!
