Armada Night, a label party of Armada Music, is going to be held at ageHa Tokyo on 6th of August. The guest lineup from Armada Music is TOP100DJs #40 Andrew Rayel, Orjan Nilsen, and Rodg. It is the first time for all of them to come and perform in Japan. We DJMag Japan is honored to have an interview with Rodg, a new talent from Armada Music. He answered us about his impression of Japan, track making and more!

DJMag: We know this is your first time to visit Japan, however what is your impression of Japan so far?

Rodg: Oh yes! My first impression of Japan... Such a different world from home... Such a different place from I've been anywhere in the world! But I love it. People are very nice, and the food... Oh my, it's amazing :)

DJMag: When did you start DJing? And what or who were your early passions?

Rodg: I started DJ-ing when I was 18. I worked at McDonald's to save up money to buy my first turntables. After DJ-ing for, I think, about a year or so I got more and more interested in playing records I would've made myself as I was missing a creative aspect while DJ-ing other people's records. That's where I started learning how to produce records from scratch.

DJMag: What’s keeping you busy this summer? Can you tell us your upcoming tours and new tracks you’re working on now?

Rodg: Making music always keeps me busy. Whether I'm doing a lot of shows or not, I'm always walking around with melodies in my head I need to get working on. So working on new records will always keep me busy. Besides that I'm releasing my first album in September and doing several shows in Europa and Asia being part of the "High On Life" Album Release Tour.

DJMag: Which location and event is your most memorable tour experience so far? And why is that?

Rodg: I have to say that was A State Of Trance in Mexico last October. Never experienced anything like that, people love the music so much and go absolutely crazy during the show.

DJMag: How do you usually get inspiration when you create new tracks? Please tell us some episodes if there is any.

Rodg: How do I usually get inspiration.. Tough question, could be from anything. Could be from traveling, a movie or TV show but also – either good or bad – experiences in life. This inspiration is a certain feeling that's hard to describe, and with making music I try to translate that feeling in to music. Sounds hazy doesn't it? But it's like that.

DJMag: What is DJ Mag to you as a DJ/producer?

Rodg: Well back in the days I bought DJ Mag (there was only the UK version back then). I went to the airport to buy it, as that was the one of the few places that sold international magazines. DJ Mag was my only way to get some background stories behind the music I was so much in love with, as well as to new music and artists I have had never heard of before.

DJMag: TOP100DJs voting started in Japan from this year. Would you like to leave a message for your fans and voters in Japan?

Rodg: Thank you for the support and the love I get from Japan and hope to see you all soon again!
