Dannic, you’re consistently on the up and up and we’re not just talking about the rankings in the DJ Mag TOP 100. Since earning your stripes starting out in small bars and clubs, your career has been launched into the stratosphere. Can we ask you a few questions about your recent career and your upcoming japan trip…

Q. People are still reeling from the fact you shot up 44 places to No. 30 in the DJ Mag TOP 100 rankings, not to mention the other 4 spots you’ve cleared this year. Well done !  You are playing Wired Music Festival in May this year,  How are you feeling about returning to Japan?

A. Thanks, it was a great feeling to be recognised like that by the fans that all took the time to vote for me  Can’t wait to return to Japan, amazing vibes from the audiences over there wherever I play and Wired looks great fun, looking forward to playing near the beautiful Ibi River!

Q. Last time you played Sensation White Tokyo – can you tell us about any interesting experiences in the country so far -?

A. Sensation was my first trip to Japan but I also played there earlier in April! It was a bit of a culture shock with the huge differences between Tokyo and Breda in The Netherlands where I’m from but Asia is still one of my favourite places to visit. Haha we ate a lot of great food, sushi and sashimi and had this super white stretch limo pick us up to take us to Sensation, where of course, everyone is also dressed in white to party. A brilliant introduction to your country!

Q. Is there anything you would like to do that you haven’t had a chance to do on previous visits to Japan ?

A. I want to see some Sumo wrestling and visit some native temples, I think that would be great to experience – I also hear you guys have a Universal Studios that I want to visit!

Q. Globally – Do you have a favourite country or Club that's hot to play in, and if you do what do you like about it?

A. Papaya Beach Club over in Croatia is beautiful and one of the DJ Mag Top 100 Clubs – amazing setting, great line-ups and beautiful weather!

October last year you set up your independent label ‘Fonk Recordings’ to guide young artists and help them get a bit of a foothold in the industry.

What can we expect from the label for the rest of 2016  ?

Yes, that was always my main aim in launching Fonk Recordings, to give a platform for new artists that I think deserved more exposure or that didn’t have an outlet to release their music on yet. We’ve just announced our next release which is a collab between myself and Amersy called ‘Lights Out’. It has this huge build-up that gets everyone pumped up before the groove really comes in and has already been getting a lot of support from the fans - when I dropped this out in Miami at Ultra was a highlight!

Q. Are there any Japanese or Asian Artists who have caught your attention musically who might be lucky enough to get onto Fonk?

A. I’m a big fan of Asian music and always try to check out the local talents when I can – it doesn’t matter where in the world some producers may be that want to submit music to Fonk Recordings, just go to fonk-recordings.nl and check out how to submit your track 

Q. Can you send just a short message  for your Japanese fans and the clubbers in Nagoya at Wire Festival ?

A. Really looking forward to partying with you all at Wire, can’t wait to bring that groovy energy! See you out on the dance floor!
