Q1. Please talk to us about your latest release and the inspiration behind it.

My latest release Downtown EP on Solä has gone off well so far. It's received support from Claude Vonstroke, Pete Tong, Idris Elba, Mark Knight and more which really means a lot. I guess I was inspired by the area I moved to - Downtown Miami. It’s where I made the tracks.

Q2. How are these songs special compare to other tracks you’ve released throughout the career?

I try to make each EP special and unique. I always add a touch of familiar Shiba San sounds but I change a lot of things as well. Downtown EP is good example of that. “Crush That” is a hypnotic loop while “Downtown” is a very minimal song with a big 808 kick.

Q3. Can you pick 1 or 2 must plays in your recent sets and why?

A track I must always play for my fans is my own - “Okay”. I will always play that track and it’s for the fans...they would probably be mad if I didn’t play it. I always end my sets with it - it’s a great way to end the night. The second is “8 Bit” by Will Clarke out on my label Basement Leak. The crowd loves it.

Q4. What was your first impression of Japan? What was the most surprising or impressive experience? Something within your expectation?

I haven’t been to Japan yet but since my name is Shiba San, you can guess how much I can’t wait to go there. It’s one of my goals for 2019.

Q5. Any exciting new projects coming up that you can share with us?

I’m releasing my next EP, Your Mind, with Kevin Knapp on Lee Foss’s Repopulate Mars on Friday December 14th. It features a remix by Flashmob and another solo track by me. I have been playing these in my sets for a while now and I’m ready for them to finally be released. Other than that, you will have to wait and see what I have in store for 2019.

Q6. Please leave a message for your fans in Japan.

Arigatou gozaimasu! I hope to play in Japan very soon.
