A DJ/Producer that rose to #65 on last year’s DJ MAG TOP 100 DJs, Warface is a master of Hardstyle. Fiddling around with game music to pop to Hardstyle, he continues to express himself in various ways. His performance along with his original Hardstyle is what gets the crowd go wild and now he has released another track we will hear in his set.

Q1. We’re glad to interview with you! How has this year been so far?

Hi guys, thank you for having me! It’s really cool to have an interview with DJ MAG Japan. My year has been really great so far. I guess 2018 has been my biggest year ever.

I travelled around the world a lot for tours, played on some huge mainstages and also, something really special is in the works for the end of the year – but I have to keep that a secret for now.

Q2. Please talk to us about your latest release and the inspiration behind it.

My new collab with my buddy D-Sturb, “Drown,” will be released soon alongside a videoclip that we shot in Croatia last month. It’s the 4th track we’ve done together, and we can both assure you that it’s a big phat festival banger! I’m really happy with the result of the track and clip, but also with how the crowd have responded to it.

Q3. How is this track special compare to other tracks you’ve released throughout the career?

I don't know if it’s really a special one compared to my other tracks, but the switch in this track is so epic and unexpected for the audience, which in my opinion, is what this track makes really special. The break has an excellent summer festival vibe, but when the first kick drops it's really hard and straight in your face. Whenever I play this track, the crowd’s reaction is so unique because no one expected this type of drop. I can tell that this is definitely one of the biggest festival tracks of 2018.

Q4. Can you pick 1 or 2 must plays in your recent sets and why?

If I have to choose it’s “Yes” by Rooler, because it’s got a certain EDM vibe, but with the power of Hardstyle. I also have this same type of vibe in my 2017 release “Welcome To The Jungle,” which combines several out of the box elements. My second track will be Dither & Cesqeaux - Bounce. It’s a 170 BPM tune that brings something really different into my sets lately. That’s what I’m really lookin' for at the moment. I want to play special music during my shows, and the track from Dither and Cesqeaux really does it – it’s f*cking fresh!

Q5. Any exciting new projects coming up that you can share with us?

Yes, I'm working on A LOT of new music at the moment that’ll be part of a special project which will surface towards the end of the year. I'm also working on tracks with artists from other genres and that’s the thing I really want to do more of in my career. If you look at the whole EDM scene, a lot of big names are playing Hardstyle during their sets; I think the time has come to stand our ground and take our genre to the next level. And that’s my mission. I will be the guy to break barriers in our scene.

Q6. Please leave a message for your fans in Japan.

First of all, I want to thank all the people from Japan for their support! I've received a lot of messages on my social media inboxes from you guys and it's really nice to see how much the scene is growing there. I hope to visit and perform in your beautiful country really soon, I've heard a lot of great stories from fellow DJ’s and I’d love to experience it first-hand!

Only a few weeks left for this year’s DJ MAG TOP 100 DJs but Warface is another talent to be boosting his position in the poll. The summer has been full of shows and festivals whilst creating his fast-beat Hardstyle tracks. Since EDM artists are bringing more and more Hardstyle into their sets, let’s see how the genre is going to break the boundaries.
