Leandro Da Silva, an Italian DJ/Producer is now one of the big names in the House music scene. Since winning the Italian Radio DJ contest, he made a debut in the dance music scene and now represents Italy’s quality music. For his new record, the talent has collaborated with a Japanese DJ/Producer JAG based in Osaka.

Q1. Please talk to us about your latest release and the inspiration behind it.

I believe it’s stylish clubby track. It has many funky influences and it’s one of those track where the bass line makes the difference, we realized that from the beginning. Me and Jag wanted to make something elegant and our idea was to create a disco dance track that could be suitable for the catwalks of big clothes designers and this is the reason why we thought about using a vocal that would say Work that Catwalk.

Q2. How did you get connected to a Japanese DJ/Producer JAG?

Jag initially sent me a track for my label Black Lizard. It was really good and I decided to release it. Then in December of last year I went to Osaka for a gig and Jag was the dj that was opening that night. We had the chance of getting to know each other much better.

Q3. How was it working with somebody from a totally different culture?

It’s very stimulating. I am extremely curious towards new cultures but I already loved the Japanese one. You are a great people and I have a profound respect for your culture. I’m so in love with Japan that during the football world cup I was a big fan of Kagawa & co. Concerning the track development I didn’t find any difference culturally. Music is a universal language and we really enjoyed working together.

Q4. Do you have any 'bedhind the scene' stories?

I still remember walking around in Kyoto while me and Jag were exchanging ideas on the music. It was really natural for us to work on a collaboration and the result is Work That Catwalk. We can say that it was all born in Kyoto in front Macha rice sweets.

Q5. Can you pick 1 or 2 must plays in your recent sets and why?

There are two tracks never missing from my sets. If I’m playing in a club I will definitely play Work that Body by Dario Trapani. This track has everything: groove, energy….hence everything I look for in a track. Otherwise if I’m playing at a festival, Fat by ASCO is a must, people go crazy for it!

Q6. Please leave a message for your fans in Japan.

I have many friends in Japan and I hope to come back soon to your amazing country. I’m also a fan of Yomiuri Giants! Ciao!
