DJ MAG TOP 100 DJs 2017 #56, Diego Miranda, a Portuguese artist is one of the influential players in the scene. In 2006, a magazine that covers Portuguese club scene and “Dace Club Awards” have announced him as the “Newcomer DJ Award” and since then, he has not looked back. It’s been more than 10 years and he is still chasing his dream and passion for dance music. Last year, he has released some of the hit tracks from Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s Smash The House “Blaze”, “Viking”. These two tracks are one of the festivals bangers today. Did he release another banging tune? Let’s find out.

Q1. We’re glad to interview with you! How has this year been so far?

Is my pleasure :) last year has been crazy, I have not stopped with a lot of Tours around the world specially in Asia and working in new songs.

Q2. Please talk to us about your latest release and the inspiration behind it.

My new song is called Someone Like You and it was maybe my longest song :) , this beacause the singer mikkel solnado whom I had worked before and who I admire a lot, have gave me these vocals about two years ago and since then I've been working on it until I find the perfect drop for these melody. The result is in sight, it's a song of love, summer and happiness with a very actual and fresh beat and a great drop. This song is being very well accepted by the public and I'm very happy.

Q3. How is this track special compare to other tracks you’ve released in the last months?

No doubt this track has become very special for me, first because of the time I have invested, for believing and never giving up on it. In second, for being a style completely different of what I've been playing and producing, is more pop, more for the radios. All my fans in the world are sending me videos of them with the music, is getting viral.

Q4. Can you pick 1 or 2 must plays in your recent sets and why?

Sure, my two latest tracks boomshakalak or nashville that have been number 1 in beatport, the crowd get crazy when I play them.

Q5. What was your first impression of Japan? Any update on your Asia tour?

In fact, this month I played in Japan again and I can only say it's one of my favorites crowds! super enthusiastic and loyal, even last year I met some of my Japanese fans at Ultra Miami and it was amazing. I love the culture and the food is very good also. Japan can be very different from other Asian countries culturally and always at the top of high tech evolution.

Q6. What big festivals/clubs do you will be playing next?

Now I will play in Rock in Rio Lisboa (my 5th edition playing there) that is one of the biggest festivals in the world. Next II will be at Tomorrowland Belgium and I will keep my residences in Ibiza at Ushuaia Ibiza Hotel and Hi Ibiza. Meanwhile I will have some gigs in China, India, Indonesia and Portugal for this summer too.

Q7. Can you give some advice for the amateur DJs. How did you acquire your producing skills during you amateur years?

what I can say is you don't have other option besides work, practice makes the perfection and please do not close doors, exchange ideas with others allows you to improve and evolve. Focus is the main.

Q8. Please leave a message for your fans in Japan.

Love you guys hope to see you soon again. I already have played in ultra Miami or Tomorrowland Belgium and now I’ve the dream to play at Ultra or EDC Japan, maybe this year I concretize that dream. Be happy and follow your dreams because the best is yet to come.
