The French DJ/Producer HUGEL has been officially remixing big names in the past including the Pop Star Charlie Puth, the Colombian Star J Balvin, the legend David Guetta, Deep/Tropical House Robin Schulz and many more. His residency at the mecca Ushuaïa this summer shows how far he has come with his Hip-Hop and House fusion music. He has released a new track “Bella Ciao Remix” from SCORPIO Music so tune in to his interview.

Q1. Please briefly explain how you grew up and got involved in the dance music scene.

I’m from Marseille, France. I grew up there. I dropped out of school really young because I was bad at it. I was really into Rap music and Hip-Hop that’s when I started to DJ and producing stuff. Then at that point, I realised that I was a white boy with ginger hair from Marseille without the language of English, which was complicated to become a rapper. So I decided to have my own artist project and I discovered the House music scene and the rest and it was the right way for me to make my career out of it. So now, I try to mix Hip-Hop and House music to have my own project.

Q2. How is the remix of “Bella Ciao” from Scorpio Music doing? How are the fans reacting to it?

The numbers are really crazy. We released it one month ago and it’s going viral at more than 40 countries on Spotify. It’s really crazy. A lot of DJs are playing the track and it’s everywhere from radio to TV so it’s amazing.

Q3. How does it feel to play every week at one of the most recognised clubs in Ibiza, Ushuaïa?

Ushuaïa is one of my favourite. It’s the best beach club for me so far. The energy is amazing and the best thing is that you have the Ushuaïa stage but you also have the green room, which is the after party between artists. I love that!

Q4. How do you get the inspirations to create your original music? Is there something special you do?

Like I mentioned, I come from a Hip-Hop background, that’s what I listen to everyday. When I started, I wasn’t a musician so I used to produce with a lot of samples. So my music and my new music is between Urban and House using those samples.

Q5. Any exciting projects that you can already share with us?

I think everything is exciting at the moment. This “Bella Ciao Remix” is doing really well and I really can’t wait to see how it grows through summer. Also, I’m playing Tomorrowland again and all the gigs in Ibiza. I’m living in Ibiza for 5 months and I’m getting the key to the apartment in an hour. This is the good news of the year. I’m staying here for 5 months!

Q6. Please leave a message to your Japanese fans.

First of all, I have never been to Japan. I really want to go so anytime you guys want to invite me let me know. For the fans, I hope to meet you guys really soon because I really want to do it!
