It’s been quite some time since we lasted interviewed one of Armada’s artist, ØRJAN NILSEN.  Couple years back, Armada Night was hosted in Tokyo and ØRJAN NILSEN is still going strong out here in the East Coast. He has now released a new album “Prism”, which he wants to talk about to his fans here.

Q1. Glad to interview with you again! How has this year been so far?

Thanks for having me again, DJ Mag Japan! Well this year has been actually amazing so far. So many new exciting things – my album just got released, so many new tours, so many new places to see, places I have not been before as well, so that’s pretty cool! I am really excited for the album tour to really lift off and see all these new places! And hopefully people will like all of these new tracks that I just released

Q2. Please talk to us about your latest release, Prism and the inspiration behind it.

Prism came about after 2 years of work, through which I wanted to show everybody that I can do everything and that I want to do everything. So “Prism” is like a 2 years… how to put it.. climax of what I wanted to show people. I thin it has been really amazing to work with it and to work with so many fantastic vocalists, as well as my good friend Mike James who’s my usual lyrics-writer. Its really nice to see how everything just clicked in this one album! Like it was so fun and easy to work with everyone, so im definitely up for doing more of that!

Q3. How is this album special compare to other tracks you’ve released throughout the career?

This album is special because its me exploring different styles more. And its also because I worked with more people than before and usually I am a very egotistical studio guy who tends to take in control of the studio work. So it was really good to work with other people as well and getting feedback as you progress further. So the fact that its more a collaborative album is very special to me.

Q4. Can you pick 1 or 2 must plays in your recent sets and why?

I am definitely loving this new track, which is actually a remake of this old track by Spoiled and Zigo called “More and More” in the Tom Staar Remix. I really love to play that one out. Its definitely a must play in my sets. And also from my new album I really enjoy playing “The Last Goodbye” and “Nothing Here But Love” … so I actually gave you 3 tracks but they are definitely must play for me! In every set I play right now they always go down so well, it makes me so happy how people go off!

Q5. Any exciting new projects coming up that you can share with us?

The most exciting project right now is working on the second part of “Prism”, although its probably not gonna be called Prism part 2, but maybe something else. But its definitely going to be connected with the album that I just finished. So I am working with that and hopefully in not too long, by the beginning of next year, that should be released as well. There is just so many tracks coming out now – I just love it! When inspiration is at this level its just so fun to work with music.

Q6. Please leave a message for your fans in Japan.

I just wanna say thank you so much to all my Japanese fans out there, as well as the DJ Mag fans, because it definitely helps me grow to see you guys all going nuts on my tracks, to see what works and what doesn’t. Last time I played Tokyo it was an absolutely epic night, loved it so much. And I CAN’T WAIT to go back to Japan!
