Romeo Blanco has received more attention than ever due to his performance at the biggest festival, Tomorrowland. We must have all heard of his of his hit track “Other Side” without recognising it at some point. Not to mention his last release “In The Mood” has hit No.1 on the Belgian chart and he’s definitely making his way to stardom.

Q1. Please talk to us about your collaboration with Henri PFR and the inspiration behind it.

Me & Henri met a while ago. I contacted him after one of his songs ‘Until The End’ was played a lot on Belgian radios and I didn’t really know him. I was surprised to find out he was Belgian too so I showed my support and we talked for hours about music. Since then we have become close friends & support each others work. I had this demo laying around and asked his opinion on it. It was an early draft of ‘In The Mood’ with Veronica’s original vocal on it. I’ve found a cover from her of a Drake song on youtube & she was totally the person and voice I was looking for for this song. She delivered amazing work and brought the demo to a higher level. I suggested to Henri that we could work on it together. He was very excited but wanted to bring his own style to it. So we jumped in the studio together & made it work. We brought his original flavour from ‘Until The End’ into our song and came up with a catchy lead. We were so thrilled when we finished it that we were already dancing in the studio, hoping the crowd would like it too, and they did! In the first week of release it went straight to the Big Hit playlist on Belgians biggest radiostation MNM, which list is only reserved for the very top like David Guetta, Martin Garrix, Ed Sheeran & so on. After more than 8 months it’s in full rotation on the radio and has reached gold record status. It was once my goal to own a golden record, and to have it now is amazing. I look at it every day and it keeps inspiring me to go on and make more.

Q2. How is this track special compare to other tracks you’ve released throughout the career?

Throughout my career I’ve been always focused on music for clubs & events. I love how rhythm and melodies can transform a place into an earthquake of dancing people. I’ve done some productions in the past for Pop artists, mainly singers that asked me to bring the club vibe to the radio. My main goal is to bring emotion into my music, no matter the genre. 2 years back I had a little bit of a creative struggle with myself, I wanted to make something different than I was used to. Get out of my comfort zone, which was club music, and make music I wanted to make. More slow, more melodic and something I want to listen to when I turn the radio on in my car. So I started to make more pop music. ‘In The Mood’ is the first Pop record I’ve released. The success it brought makes me want to release even more Pop songs and there will be more for sure. But for my fans who love my club music, there is no need to worry, there will be something for them too very soon.

Q3. Can you pick 1 or 2 must plays in your recent sets and why?

That’s an easy question for me and there is only one song that is the right answer: ‘Sun Is Shining’ from Axwell & Ingrosso. Everywhere I play I bring a different set, because every crowd is different so I adjust myself to what the crowd likes without forgetting what I myself like & want to play. I always try to find the right balance with this. With ‘Sun Is Shining’, I have the best of both worlds. Something that the crowd loves & something that I love. It’s maybe a bit old now, but still works so well on the dancefloor. It brings people together & makes them sing proudly with all the love they have for music. It almost always gives me goosebumps and is one of my favourite moments during my shows. I guess it will be in my sets for a long time.

Q4. You recently toured in Asia, what was the experience like? Have you managed to visit Japan? What was the most surprising or impressive experience? Something within your expectation?

I’ve been touring Asia a lot since last year. In the past it was a few shows here and there, but now Asia is one of my main markets. Almost every month I’m here and I love it! I love the culture, the food & how genuinely kind the people are. I’ve visited Japan once, but I’m sure I will be back soon. I was surprised how clean Tokyo is. I’ve been to New York, Rio De Janeiro, Paris - you name it, but i’ve never seen a big city so clean and perfect. But the most impressive thing is how much energy the people have. Every dance floor in Asia is crazy. People go wild, on every beat, on every song, which makes my work even more gratifying than it already was.

Q5. Any exciting new projects coming up that you can share with us?

I can’t say too much for what’s in store, but what I can say is that people can expect a follow up for ‘In The Mood’. I’ve got a lot of songs on hold, waiting for the right time to release them, and I know for sure something as big as ‘In The Mood’ is in there. Also I will soon release some new club tracks, maybe some alert fans have already heard a few in some sets of mine that i’ve played to test out. I would say to keep an eye out on my socials & you’ll be rewarded soon.

Q6. Please leave a message for your fans in Japan.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to all of the people who come to see my shows. Never will I get used to all the love they give. And to all my fans in Japan, I will be back soon. I’ve got nothing but love for you all!

The message to his Japanese fans shows his motivation and emotion towards hosting a show out here with his exciting music. His tracks are now receiving attention from Sony, Warner, Armada, Spinnin’ Records and other top labels we can find in the scene. Stay tuned to his new release “In The Mood” and more on his Socials.
