Hitting up DJ MAG JAPAN TOP 100 DJs, No 26, The Belgian DJ Lost Frequencies is know as producer of “Reality” and “Are You With Me”. His first album “Less Is More” attained his best sales and high reputation from this industry. The genuine artist Lost Frequencies exclusively answer to our question. Let us share his latest single and future plan.

Q1. Can you please tell us a bit more about your latest release ‘Crazy’ and the inspiration behind this track?

The thing is with music, I always ask myself “what is the next step?” , and for me the next step a few months ago, was to do a collab with other really cool producers ! To be with them in the studio, and mix our sounds together, was something a really wanted to do, after the release of my 1st album and the deluxe version of that 1st album! That’s when I went in the studio with my friend Netsky, which is an amazing belgian producer. Then I wanted to make a track with zonderling. I met zonderling on twitter, because they posted their remix of “Domino” by Oxia, which is insane ! They already did a remix for me on one of my singles “what is love”, and the idea of working with them was really exciting. So I send them a few demo’s I had, but when David Benjamin (the singer of “Craz”), sent me his demo of the track, we immidieately new it would be the track we would work on and finish together ! And that’s what happened, a mix of lost frequencies sound & zonderling’s singature synth, with the amazing vocals of David Benjamin! I’m really happy to see that people really enjoy the track.

Q2. How did the collaboration with Zonderling come about and what was the production process like?

I think I answered a little bit this question in the previous answer, but the production process with zonderling was like this : I send them the demo I got from David Benjamin (the singer) and we bounced idea’s back and forth - Once we had a good first demo sound done, I took a train to go to their studios, so we could finish the track together. The vibe in the studio was really great, Jaap en Martijn (the two zonderling guys) are real pros in what they do, and it was a pleasure to work on this collab together.

Q3. How is this track special compared to other tracks you’ve released throughout your career?

It is my first single after my 1st album (normal en deluxe edit), and It feels great to see that people are still supporting the music and enjoying themselves on this track. It is also a next step for me, to incorporate more “Electronic Sounds” in a single, compared to the previous ones !

Q4. Can you pick 1 or 2 must plays in your recent sets and why?

Yes!! I only play 3 tracks in my set now that aren’t mine, so I will choose those of course !
The first one would be “Hey Hey Hey” by Chemical surf, it’s an insane deep house/brazilian house track !

The second one would be “Dam Sauz” by a brussels duo called “Two Pauz”. I signed this track on my label, and it will be released in the begin of april. It’s a mix between deep/melodic house, with a more aggressive techno/electro touch ! Really sounds fresh and I’m super excited to share to first release of this group, that I’m sure, will get a lot of attention in the upcoming months !

Q5. Are there any artists in particular you would love to collab with this year?

I would love to make a track with Martin Solveig maybe, I love his live sets, his vibes and the music he puts out !

Q6. Any exciting new projects coming up that you can share with us?

Yes ! I have so much music that I only produce for my sets, and that aren’t meant as singles, that will be released in a big EP / small album, so I can share them with the world instead of just playing them in my sets.

Also, I’m working on a complete “Lost Frequencies Live” show, now that I have enough music of my own, I put a 1h30 playlist together and will play everything live, with a drummer and another guy on the KEYS/GUITAR. It’s a lot of work, but I feel like this would be the next step for festivals! Super exciting!

Q7. Please leave a message for your fans in Japan.

I’m so looking forward to discover Japan, I’ve been wanting to ge there for a long time ! Good food and a really interesting culture! Also, I would like to thank everybody for the support, and can’t wait to see everyone when I’ll come for the shows, I hope everybody is going to have a good time !! I will for sure !
