Spanish-DJ/Producer Miguel Bastida started his career when he was 14 and now gained fame as one of the biggest artist in Spain. Recently, His recent performance in NY and Chicago hugely attracted audience there. This time, we have chance to listen his new EP and interview the Spanish DJ star Miguel Bastida.
Q1. Please talk to us about your latest release and the inspiration behind it.
The Benasty EP defines two different faces to my techy sound, for sure. "Benasty" is that solid, fresh, groovy tech-house that I’ve been making in the last few months – sometimes with rap voices or sometimes without. This time, the vibe was perfect for a ragga voice mixed with a powerful tech-house beat and a rolling bassline
In the other side, “Kickness”, a pure dark tech-house groove with drops in style techno, using only the kick and bassline to create the energy after the drop. The voice adds some dark detail for this track.
Q2. What are your resolutions for 2018?
This year is so important for me. I’m playing around the world at some big parties, like my last show in Bari (Italy). In the next months, some new remixes and EPs will be released - I can’t wait! Also, I’ll be working with my friend Wade and we have a really interesting b2b world tour this year. I guess my resolution is to keep up the momentum!
Q3. Can you pick 1 or 2 must plays in your recent sets and why?
Yes, recently I’m playing my remix for Elrow music (a remix of one of the best tracks on the label): Trivial by Ki Creighton & Makanan. It will be released in the next few months.
Also, one of my favourites is Di Chiara Brothers – All People. Pure groovy feeling on the dancefloor.
Q4. Are there any artists in particular you would love to collab with this year?
I’m really in love with the Detlef stuff - would be nice to collaborate with him.
Q5. What do you have coming up in the future?
Benasty EP was released last Friday (16th). In March, I have another remix for MyFavouriteFreaks and a EP on Sonny Fodera’s new label “SOLOTOKO”.
Q6. Please leave a message for your fans in Japan.
I really wish to play in Japan! It will be great to play there for the first time and to share my music with the Japanese crowd. I can’t wait to make my first connection with you all. I’m also a lover of Japanese food ;)
We think his career and success story may encourage a lot of Japanese DJ/Producer because he had kept strong passion and constant efforts until he gained attention from industry at release of “Moudness”. We are looking forward to see his performance at stage of world big festival and new exciting songs in a future.
