Netherland’s new talented artist “Roovel” collaborated with Rodg, representatives of Armada Music and leader of dance music scene. The young aspiring artists “Roovel” shared his latest track and goals with us.

Q1. Please talk to us about your latest release and the inspiration behind it.

‘Fast Lane’ for me is a collaboration between two great friends. Rodg and I know each other via Armada and we discovered that we have similar visions on many things in life but especially music wise. We had a good ‘click’ haha!

The idea of making a track together came up in 2016. Then in 2017 we made plans for me joining him on some of his gigs for summer 2017(as a friend). We thought it would be amazing to finish a track before the summer season so he could play it on his gigs! So after that we started working on a track immediately. I think there were about two weeks between first draft and final product. Just in time for his first Ibiza gig of 2017 and seeing/hearing it for the first time in a club was a real goosebump moment! From that moment I knew that we made a great track because the reaction from the crowd was amazing!

Q2. How was working with Rodg? Any behind the scene stories?

My experience with collaborations is that they go really slow and it’s not easy to make choices on where you want to go with the track. Collaborating with Rodg gave me a different point of view about that.

Basically from the start we knew what we wanted and Rodg is so straight to the point that things we run up to, were fixed within seconds. I think the project went back and forward about 5/6 times after the first draft before it was done and ready to play.

Also think that the fact that we are good friends and have the same vision about music really helped in the pace of making things track. All in all, a smooth collaboration on where I’ve learned a lot from Rodg as a producer but as a person as well!

Q3. How was last year? What was the best experience of 2017?

2017 was a great year for me. Did a lot of things I did not expect to happen but after all they were great experiences. Learned new things, met amazing people and I can’t wait what 2018 has to offer music wise.

Q4. What are your resolutions for 2018?

I don’t really have resolutions but I definitely want to be in the studio more. 2017 was a year of mostly making music for others (companies, festivals), 2018 will be about making music for myself!

For me it’s important to stay in motion, develop myself and my music so as long as I can keep up with that, 2018 will be a good year.

Q5. Since DJ Mag started to vote “Top 100 Clubs”, I want to ask your favorite club and the reasons.

I don’t go clubbin’ that much but if I have to pick one it will be ‘Hï Ibiza’. I think that’s mainly because I joined Rodg on his gig there and saw him play ‘Fast Lane’ for the first time. Have to say that it really gave me goosebumps seeing everybody go crazy when he dropped it. Besides that, Hï Ibiza looks really amazing and the sound systems are really sick for a club!

Q6. Please leave a message for your fans in Japan.

I want to thank everybody for the early support on ‘Fast Lane’ and hope that I can give back my appreciation via my music!.

For the new rising star Roovel, it is greatest first step into 2018 with the collaboration of Rodg. Rodg also pays a lot of attention to Roovel’s potential and expect that he will be a next star in this industry. We hope that interview will be historical in near future. We will put our eyes on his next move and support him for sure.
